This Syrah includes a touch of Viognier, a traditional winemakeing technique in France's Rhone Valley. It introduces a delightful floral aroma and supple texture to Syrah's spicy dark berry flavours.

Notes of red fruits and florals overlying more brooding characters of dark cherries, spice and cedar. The palate displays plums and berry fruits alongside anise and cinnamon spice. The fruit is encased in supple tannins, and supported by bright acidity to give a long lingering spicy finish to the wine.

For TWR's main blend of Pinot Noir they prefer the flavour profiles from the southern side of Marlborough - this sub-region is called the Southern Valleys or Southern Clays. The soil types in this area of Marlborough are much older than the Wairau flood plain, they also have much lower fertility and a much higher clay component which gives the wines more depth and structure.

This SV5182 Pinot Noir is a special selection of the best parcels from the eight different clones currently producing on TWR's home vineyard. Year after year as the vines mature, TWR are seeing an increasing depth and complexity in the wines and they have chosen to showcase that with their SV Pinot Noir.
